• 1lb mince
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1tbsp oil
  • 2 large slices brown bread
  • Water or stock to cover
  • 1 tbsp curry powder
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 tsp mixed herbs
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 pint milk
  • 3 bay leaves

1. Preheat oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4. Brown onion in oil and add mince. Meanwhile put 2 slices of bread in a bowl and cover with water or stock. Mash.

2. Add curry powder, lemon juice, mixed herbs and salt and pepper to mince mixture and stir well. Pour into a pie dish.

3. Beat the eggs with the milk and pour over the beef. Lay 3 bay leaveson top. Bake for 45 minutes.
